Záver worskhopu patril hre s experimentálnou architektúrou a improvizácii v zakomponovávaní mobilných drevených konštrukcií rôznych tvarov a veľkostí do priestoru osady.
Deti so svojimi rodinami a susedmi tak uvideli samých seba v priamej tvorivej akcii.
Kreatívneho workshopu sa aktívne zúčastnilo v priemere 70 detí a mládeže rôznych vekových kategórii.
Poďakovanie: Projekt ,,Letný maliarsky workshop 2018“ z verejných zdrojov podporilo Ministerstvo kultúry Slovenskej Republiky. Pre projekt poskytlo ubytovacie priestory Centrum voľného času v Sečovciach.
EN:
The civic association Art Aktivista returned for the fourth time to the Roma settlement in Sečovce and, together with art therapist Karin Andrášiková from the NGO Mládež ulice, carried out the project Summer Painting Workshop #4 (2018) for socially excluded children. To help with the children’s activities, Karin invited volunteer Elisa Defrencisci from Italy.
The painting workshop is a continuous project that supports children’s self-realization by engaging them in the collective creation of artworks and in art-therapeutic processes. This year again, the association (represented by Tomáš Rafa, Janka Pohanková, and Marek Halász) created a creative space filled with action painting and happenings in the spirit of Oskar Hansen’s “Open Form.”
Over the course of seven days, the children painted a giant canvas (10 x 10 meters), which during the happening they filled with pastels, markers, and acrylic paints. They also created small-format paintings, which had been very successful in the previous year’s workshop. For the first time, the children also tried large-scale painting directly onto a concrete surface in the most frequented part of the settlement. Not only children, but also parents and other adults joined in.
The final part of the workshop was dedicated to playing with experimental architecture and improvisation—integrating mobile wooden structures of different shapes and sizes into the settlement space. The everyday happenings involved not only children and young people but also other residents. A temporary creative art studio emerged in the very center of the settlement.
A special highlight of this year’s workshop was a film and photographic projection of the “Sečovce” archive of workshops from 2012–2017 onto the wall of one of the apartment buildings. Videos from the Sports Walls series, the revitalization of shared spaces, and recent editions of the Painting Workshop (Open Form) were screened. Children, together with their families and neighbors, were able to see themselves in direct creative action.
On average, around 70 children and young people of various ages actively participated in the creative workshop.
Acknowledgments: The project Summer Painting Workshop 2018 was supported with public funds by the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic. Accommodation facilities for the project were provided by the Leisure Center in Sečovce.
